A thousand-year-old craft from Hainan, China
Li brocade is the traditional weaving of the Li people of Hainan, recognised as a national-level intangible cultural heritage in China. The geometric motifs are woven on hand looms, thread by thread, by weavers who learned the patterns from their mothers.
The bag
A handwoven Li brocade panel set into a clean, structured bag you can use every day. Bold red, black, yellow and green geometry, with a lining that holds the shape. Because the panels are woven by hand, no two bags have identical patterning – that is the point.
Each bag ships with a story card naming the pattern and the weaving technique.
Care: spot clean only. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the dyes.
Handmade in Hainan, China.
